SoftLayer Data Center Info

Postby dkg » Mon Jul 06, 2009 6:11 pm

One of my clients asked for photos of the data center we use.

Here is a a blog entry containing 20 photos of the Dallas data center which is virtually the same as our Washington DC data center.

In addition, here is a video showing some of the details of the data center and how they pack 5000 servers into 5000 sqft.

Are those 2U height servers?
Is that a SuperMicro brand?
Hot swap SCSi/SAS hard drives?

Are you asking about SandyBay or SoftLayer in general? SoftLayer provides so many options when configuring a server that there isn't one answer in general.

There are 2U servers at SoftLayer. Ours is not one of them.

I also believe they do use SuperMicro but not certain of the brand of our server.

They also offer SaS hard drives but at a premium I was not prepared to pay right now. We do have hot swap SATA II drives in a RAID 1 configuration.
